Don Jefford, Sr. – Founder



Don was trained in the Air Force as an Electrical/Electronic Development Mechanic. After completion of his service in the Air Force, he was hired by Lockheed Martin to work on the Polaris and Gemini Missile programs. After working for Lockheed for 11 years, Don parlayed his electrical, mechanical, and plumbing skills and experience into his own business venture, and opened Don’s Appliance Repair Service in 1974. After many years in the appliance industry, in 2001, Don saw an opportunity to apply his skill set to another business venture, an auto wrecking business which grew rapidly and was sold in 2001. Afterward, Don began repairing swimming pool and spa equipment, establishing American Pool and Spa Repair.

Dale Jefford – Vice President Operations



Dale began his career as an Entrepreneur at the young age of 23 when in 1985, he and his brother started D and D Carpet Care, which his brother continues to operate today. In 1989, Dale joined his parents in the auto wrecking business and helped to build it into a successful venture, which eventually sold in 2001. Also in 1989, Dale earned his degree in Sound Engineering at the College for the Recording Arts in San Francisco, and in 2001, joined his parents in the pool and spa repair business, where he has been running the business operations of American Pool and Spa Repair ever since.

Luis Rosario, Senior Field Service Technician



Luis began his career in Pools and Spas, as a Pool Maintenance Technician in 1983. In 1993, after 10 years in pool maintenance, he became an Apprentice Pool and Spa Repair Technician, learning pool and spa equipment repair, and the installation and repair of automated pool and spa control systems. Luis was also trained in upgrading pool and spa systems, the design of these systems, and the relocation of system equipment. Over the course of his long career, he has also managed all aspects of pool and spa retail operations, mastered bench repair, inventory control, and has managed and scheduled multiple crews of Maintenance and Equipment Repair Service Technicians. At American Pool and Spa, Luis provides education, training and electrical and mechanical trouble-shooting support to both our technicians and to our customers, and provides support to management in our scheduling and office operations. His continuing education includes training and certification for Pentair, Jandy, Kodiac and Hayward systems.

Baltazar Garcilazo, Field Service Technician



Baltazar also began his career in Pools and Spas, as a Pool Maintenance Technician in 1983. He has operated his own pool maintenance service company, and for the past 15 years, Baltazar has focused exclusively in the trouble-shooting, installation and repair of pool and spa equipment. Early on in his career, as a Pool Maintenance Technician, he saw a need for the repair and replacement of pool/spa equipment (motors and filters) and taught himself how to remove and repair them. His Manager recognized his ambition and self-motivation, and quickly promoted him to a Pool and Spa Repair Technician, where he repaired and replaced equipment on a full-time basis. Baltazar later joined the Independent Pool and Spa Service Association (IPSSA), and as a member, began attending, and continues to attend, regular meetings, and furthering his education through training seminars offered by many of the pool and spa equipment manufacturers. Baltazar is certified in the knowledge, repair and replacement of most significantly, Jandy, Ray-Pak, Hayward, Pentair equipment.

Oscar Garcilazo, Field Service Technician



Oscar began his career in Pools and Spas, as a Pool Maintenance Technician in 2008. During his 8 years in the industry, Oscar has worked with some of the top companies in the Bay Area. Over the course of his career, he has gained extensive experience in pool and spa equipment repair, the installation and repair of automated pool and spa control systems, and trouble-shooting for both commercial and residential customers. Oscar also regularly attends manufacturer-sponsored continuing education and training courses, and is certified in the knowledge, repair and replacement of such major brands as Pentair, Jandy, Hayward and Ray-Pak systems. “.
